Business Development Manager (North East)

We're looking for a Business Development Manager, to proactively acquire, maintain and develop business revenue streams from key accounts and other customers within the defined territory, ensuring Swagelok products and services are specified on current and future projects. Focus on achieving sales results in line with company forecasts and individual targets.

Deliver high value insight, technical expertise, innovation, and sales consultancy to existing and new customers to develop product sales and services aligned with Swagelok Central UK's strategic plan.

 

Location: Home based with regular travel, primarily within a defined territory (East Midlands, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire)

Key responsibilities

 

Business development

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the company's client base and revenue streams
  • Develop and implement strategic/key account plans and manage the opportunities pipeline to drive growth
  • Ensure a thorough working knowledge of all the company's products and services and a full understanding of their technical attributes

Client relationship management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, ensuring high levels of satisfaction
  • Understand client needs and develop customised solutions to meet those needs and explore new opportunities
  • Liaise whenever necessary with Customer Services, other members of the business development team, technical and manufacturing to ensure a proper level of customer service and customer advice is maintained
  • Provide interim geographic sales territory support as required by the Director, Sales and Marketing

Sales & Marketing

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to support the development and execution of marketing campaigns
  • Prepare and deliver sales presentations and proposals
  • Attend industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities as directed to promote the company

Skills and experience required

Qualifications & Experience | Essential

  • Experience in the industry or sector relevant to the company's business
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent relationship-building and client management skills
  • Self-motivated with a strong drive for results and growth
  • Knowledge of competitors and our differentiable values
  • Ability to devise and implement effective account plans
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects
  • Ability to identify and secure new business opportunities
  • Proven history of success in achieving business growth, exceeding sales targets and driving customer satisfaction
  • Regular regional and some international travel as required to meet customer needs and support company growth

Qualifications & Experience| Preferred

  • Educated to degree level in Business, Engineering, or a related field, would be beneficial
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in business development, sales, or project management, would be beneficial
  • Proficient in CRM software and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively 
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle pressure and setbacks while maintaining a positive attitude
