Training Hub >> Meet the Trainer - Paul Stevens

Professional introduction

I lead the training function at Swagelok Central UK, ensuring that all training, whether delivered internally or to customers, demonstrates deep technical expertise and delivers practical, measurable outcomes. Our goal is to equip delegates with the knowledge and skills to implement fluid system installations safely and efficiently, using Swagelok® products. While products can be replicated, expertise cannot. The quality and professionalism of our training reflect the same high standards that Swagelok products achieve in the most demanding applications worldwide.

Personal introduction

With many years as a technical trainer, I now lead our team to provide a training experience that is engaging, practical, and immediately applicable. Our courses combine theory with hands-on skills, helping delegates gain confidence in applying what they learn. I emphasise real-world lessons and common installation errors that can be corrected quickly, ensuring our training delivers immediate value and aligns with Swagelok®'s commitment to safety, quality, and reliability.

Training philosophy and approach

My approach is structured, practical, and safety-focused. I emphasise a “right first time” mindset, attention to detail, and systematic problem-solving. Training is competency-based and hands-on, with measurable outcomes such as fewer errors, improved safety, and increased productivity.

Training experience

Since 2010, I have delivered installation and inspection training at Swagelok Central UK centres and customer sites, including bespoke programmes online and face-to-face. I have led up to 35 courses per year, training thousands of delegates, and now focus on a Train-the-Trainer role. High-quality training builds confidence, capability, and assurance, enabling individuals and organisations to perform safely, effectively, and consistently.
